Meth Lab

Decontamination

It is documented that contamination from the manufacture of methamphetamine can be very toxic to the people that unknowingly move into a property that is an un-remediated meth lab. The dangers can come from high levels of methamphetamine, but the health dangers are mainly around the chemical residue that is left on contact surfaces. The main chemicals associated with manufacture that remain are: Pseudoephedrine, Ephedrine, Sodium Hydroxide, Hydrocloric acid, sulphuric acid, Hydriodic acid, Phosphorous acid and Lithium hydroxide. Living in these environments can lead to health effects such as skin irritation, eye irritation, head aches and lack of concentration to name a few.

These sites normally will need specialized cleaning chemicals and materials such as carpets, curtains and possibly doors and other timber internal trims and finishes may need to be replaced.
